Literary Hack Text Introduction

The Chauffeur and the Chaperon
C.N. and A.M. Williamson      (1906)
Genre
This light story follows a party of two young women, their two suitors, and their chaperon (a Scots noblewoman with a secret) on a boating trip through the waterways of Holland. One of the young men has offended the girl he's in love with, the other young man can't quite decide which girl he loves, and one of the girls is trying to overcome her affections for a third man who is inconveniently engaged to a very unsympathetic woman... I think you get the picture. C.N. and A.M. Williamson wrote several similar novels in which romance and travelogue contend for the reader's attention. In my opinion, this is the best.
