Literary Hack Text Introduction

The Brother of Daphne
Dornford Yates      (1914)
Genre
The short stories in the collection: The Brother of Daphne seem innocuous and charmingly romantic to a reader in 2010; but the reader of 1914 must have found them slightly shocking. Chapter IV: Adam and New Year’s Eve would have been particularly titillating to readers of Yates' generation. The stories have small literary value, but are amusing in a quiet way.
